Una Voce per Padre Pio was founded by the current president, Vincenzo Palumbo, with the aim of pursuing the earthly mission of Padre Pio: “Il Sollievo della Sofferenza Umana”. Operating in various areas of the Ivory Coast, Africa, they immediately began funding projects, initially run primarily by the Don Orione congregation, in favor of communities in need of financial relief, comfort, love, solidarity, and fraternity.
In 2012, Una Voce per Padre Pio opened its first group home, “Casa Famiglia”, in the Ivory Coast. Over the years, the association has been able to establish itself among non-profit organizations operating in this country, as well as in Togo, Burkina, and Madagascar, relying solely on funds collected independently of government support. Since its inception, Una Voce per Padre Pio, has financed over 5,000,000 Euros via its works in support of abandoned children, orphans, minors with disabilities, poor families and women subject to abuse.
In 2017, plans to register a not-for-profit association also in Canada began. With the enthusiasm and support of numerous Italian Canadian friends, shortly thereafter, in 2018, registration of the Une Voix pour Padre Pio charitable organization was approved by the Canadian government.
Canada has welcomed millions of migrants from all over the world; people who have abandoned their lands in search of new possibilities, to improve their living conditions and to offer a future with opportunities for their entire families. Over the years, Canada has been, and continues above all, to be an example of acceptance, integration, and solidarity.
Moving forward with a positive attitude and sense of purpose, persistently striving to be results oriented, Une Voix pour Padre Pio is focused on the empowerment and enhancement of the disadvantaged.
